Idea #2: The Floating Ghost Mantel
A row of little sheet ghosts floating above the fireplace is the mantel idea that stops every guest mid-sentence. The ghosts are just white fabric draped over foam balls on stands — five minutes each — but grouped together they look like a scene from a storybook.
Drape, don’t sculpt: let the fabric pool slightly on the mantel for that floating effect. Draw faces on with a fabric marker — smiling faces keep it cute, not creepy. Add orange pumpkins at both ends to anchor the scene and a strand of warm fairy lights behind for depth.
