Idea 13: Display Matching White Dishes Openly

A mismatched jumble of dishes reads as clutter; a uniform set of white dishes reads as calm. If you did Idea 2’s open shelving, stock it with simple white plates, bowls, and mugs — the repetition is restful to the eye and makes the shelf look styled rather than stored. You don’t need expensive china; IKEA’s Flitighet or Target’s Threshold lines cost a few dollars a piece. Keep the everyday mismatched stuff behind closed doors. White-on-white with wood shelves is the small-kitchen look that never dates.
