NASA has officially set the target launch date for the historic Artemis II mission for April 1, 2026.
Four astronauts will make the journey: Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, Mission Specialist Christina Koch, and CSA astronaut Jeremy Hansen.
This mission will feature the first woman (Koch), the first person of color (Glover), and the first non-American (Hansen) to ever travel to the vicinity of the Moon.
As of March 18, the crew has officially entered "flight crew health stabilization" (quarantine) to ensure they are 100% healthy for liftoff.
The massive 322-foot SLS rocket and Orion spacecraft completed their rollout to Launch Complex 39B at Kennedy Space Center on March 20.
The mission will be a lunar flyby. The crew will travel 230,000 miles away from Earth, swing around the far side of the Moon, and return for a Pacific Ocean splashdown.
